The Technocraft Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (TCAAI), IIT Bombay, is proud to have supported the successful completion of the 6th Naval Operations Analysis (NOA) Course, which concluded on 19 June 2026. The programme was offered by the Department of Industrial Engineering & Operations Research (IEOR), IIT Bombay, in collaboration with Educational Outreach, IIT Bombay, and was steered under the academic guidance of Prof. Manjesh Kumar Hanawal, Professor-in-Charge of TCAAI.

Conducted over five months, the programme brought together officers of the Indian Navy for advanced training in operations research, analytical modelling, data-driven decision-making, and AI-enabled approaches to addressing complex operational challenges. By combining rigorous academic instruction with real-world defence applications, the course equipped participants with analytical frameworks to support informed and strategic decision-making.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Commodore J. L. Rego, Director of INTEG, Indian Navy, who played a pivotal role in conceptualising and initiating the Naval Operations Analysis Course for the Indian Navy, and Prof. P. Seshu Pasumarthy, Founding Director of IIT Dharwad and former Professor at IIT Bombay, whose distinguished contributions to computational mechanics and engineering education have significantly shaped the field. Congratulating the graduating officers, the dignitaries highlighted the increasing importance of analytical thinking, emerging technologies, and sustained collaboration between academia and the defence sector in addressing evolving national security challenges.

The successful completion of the sixth edition of the Naval Operations Analysis Course underscores TCAAI’s commitment to advancing the practical application of artificial intelligence and operations research in strategic domains. Through initiatives such as the NOA Course, TCAAI continues to foster meaningful collaborations with government and defence organisations while developing future-ready professionals equipped to address complex operational challenges through data-driven and AI-enabled solutions.
