IIT-Bombay will soon have a centre for applied artificial intelligence. The institute has received a contribution of Rs 15 crore from two of its alumni to set up this centre, through which the institute aims to foster collaboration between industry and academia.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to be a major driver of industrial, economic and social progress in the years to come. Through the Technocraft Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence, IIT-Bombay hopes to
be an enabler of the national goal of leadership in applied AI using the expertise of their faculty in AI, decision sciences, machine learning and optimisation, said an official statement. A cheque of Rs 5 crore was handed over to the Institute as the first installment last week.
