Leveraging the benefits of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Techniques

The Technocraft Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence (TCA2I) was set up at IIT Bombay in June 2021. The center will engage in focused research areas of Operation Research using Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Automation with a strong preference to applied works in industrial settings. Artificial Intelligence is expected to be a major driver of industrial economic and social progress in the years to come. Through the Centre, IIT Bombay wants to become a forerunner in applied AI and be an enabler of the national goal of leadership in applied AI through the expertise of iits faculty in AI, Data Sciences, Machine Learning and Optimization. In addition to the research and developmental activities, the Centre will also spread awareness of applications of AI and offer certificate programs and tailored courses to Industry professionals.

Focus Areas

  • During operations, dynamic 5G Bean Allignment
  • During Design, improving RF parameters like Bandwith, Senstivity using ML based optimising techniques.
  • Duirng Design, priortising key design parameters like throughput, latency, range and power consumption based on the application
  • Using AI/ML for Data Analytics for analysing the Radio Signals and classificating in a matter of milliseconds unlike the traditional methods that had heavy time penalty and was prone to errors.
  • Anomaly Detection based on the user pattern on a node and Network Operations.
  • Malware detection through Classification of the Data, email, message.
  • Vulnerability Management by identifying, priortising and helping to remidate existing vulnerabilities.
  • Endpoint Intrution Detection and Response – VAJRA
  • Honeypots.
  • Develop Predictive Models.
  • Integerate AR during Physical Inspection for better appreciation .
  • Integerate VR for Training Purpose (simulated DI/DR and opeing 7Assmbling of digital entity).

  • Use AI/ML tools for determining First Response in case of emergency along with the degree of criticality of the patient to prioritise and allocate resources (triaging).
  • Develop Computer vision-based HoloLens, – AR for endoscopy applications, precision for liver surgery (both real time and based on the scans, it will determine the area/volume to be removed).
  • Develop OCR tech for Digitisation of clinical hand-written reports of doctor and integrate the application with the existing Hospital Management Software at ILBS.
  • Develop AI/ML tools that use Ultrasound images to simulate the output of Fibro scan.
  • Develop a Realtime application for guiding Procedure for Ultrasound as part of training and while actual use (gazing tech). The tool should also determine the quality of the scan on the go with a aim of achieving a good and relevant scan in the first go.
  • Radiomics for portal pressure measurement using CT scans.
  • Develop a Decision Support Software – ‘Shiv’ that acts as an Expert Diagnostics Application (based on pathology and radiology reports along with certain other attributes).
  • Pestiside Spray Drone Coordination.
  • IoT based data collection for Near Future – Climate Warning and Action.
  • Selective Weeding and pestiside application.
  • Carbon Emission Prediction using IoT sensors.
  • Power Distribution Network Design.
  • Process Automation for lower carbon Emission
  • Digitisation of old records.
  • Building Decision Support Systems.
  • Smart Metering.
  • Supply Chain management
